I completed my 6-month internship in the Marketing and Communications department of the Plaza Athénée Bangkok, a Royal Meridien Hotel.
I was entrusted straight away by the Sales and Marketing director with management of the entire marketing program for food and beverage digital. I had to overcome challenges such and language barrier and cultural differences. I learnt so much about social media, digital marketing and how people respond to whatever they see online. It was the greatest six months of my life and I learnt so much, saw so many beautiful things and ate such good food.
Plus, I had the chance to travel to six other countries whilst I was there and see some of the most amazing gems of the world. I definitely recommend Bangkok as an internship destination!
My last internship was at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai in the United Arab Emirates as an Event Planning Intern.
My time at the "World's Tallest Hotel" was a wonderful opportunity - I learnt so much from outside of a classroom setting. In addition to daily tasks assisting our department as well as operational departments, I was able to help colleagues run events and was in charge of some of my own.
These events ranged from business meetings to fashion shows hosting between 10 and 1,000 participants. Overall my internship provided me with an unforgettable experience which will help me to succeed in my future career.
My most recent internship was with the architectural firm, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in New York. I was assigned to a team of 7 people and given the project of developing a hotel casino in Boston. From day 1 it was a great learning experience because I had to pick up the design programs, to learn about the project, and I would be assigned studies. For example I would be asked to consider the design for the guest room layout and I had to figure out how we could apply the 4-diamond standards with the space we were given and the shape of the hotel.
Les Roches in 3 words: inspiring, international & motivational
I have definitely become a lot more confident since I started here. I am much better at speaking in public, more comfortable presenting, and more hospitable due to my experiences on internship where I built on myself both personally and professionally. I have also become way more developed in a sense of understanding what I want to do in this industry. Before coming here I thought a hotel was a hotel, but now I see that it’s way more than that. Now I know that my options within the hospitality industry are not only within hotels, the world has opened up.
For the first intakes, the course will be open exclusively to American citizens, international students with American passports or green card holders.
